Somehow they made Hangman's Gambit worse which is. The gameplay is almost exactly the same, but worse. Everybody I haven't mentioned either leaves too soon to make a huge impact or is good but not I just don't have much to say on them. Aside from the Holy Trinity I just talked about, the rest of the cast are great, one of my personal favourites being Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, my favourite Yakuza after Kiryu himself, Ibuki Mioda, who is just loveable from the word "go" She's amazing, and finally Nekomaru Nidai, who is voiced by Patrick Seitz and therefore amazing. Now finally there's Chiaki Nanami, who, like Hajime starts quite uninteresting, she's the GamerTM character and she's quirky and Not Like Other Girls, but she gets much more interesting by the end, she even makes Monomi less hateable, which is a feat and a half by my metric.
#SUPER DANGAN RONPA 2 PS VITA ISO TRIAL#
Nagito Komaeda, who never stops being interesting from the first trial onwards, his entire character motivation is interesting and like Hajime, it culminates spectacularly in the finale.
That being said, I find the rest of the cast extremely fun and enjoyable characters, characters who stick out in my mind are the most "main characters" of the cast, being the actual main character, Hajime Hinata, who seems like he'll be just as one note and self-inserty as Makoto from the first game but manages to subvert that by slowly showing more character and interesting depth than Makoto ever did that by the end, explodes into an insanely gratifying final Trial. In terms of Quality over Quantity DR2 takes the cake, but I find more of the DR2 cast unlikable, there's an annoying sadistic Loli, an annoying molest-prone Chef, an annoying fanservice magnet of a nurse, an annoying Chuunibyou guy, who admittedly gets a bit better by the end, but that's right at the end so it doesn't do much to salvage him in my mind, and Monomi.

The developers are expecting the players to be up to speed concerning the plot of the series, so do yourself a favor and get both games if you can. Having played the first game, Trigger Happy Havoc, is requirement if you want to fully understand and appreciate the whole storyline. You will not expect what's going to happen, and this is good. The first game is known for its plot-twists, but the sequel blows that game out of the water. The last part of the game is really something that must be experienced. The pacing of the story is great, gradually ramping up until a finale that left me with my jaw open. Expect lots of reading, but despite a not exactly "top class" translation the dialogues and writing is captivating and definitely interesting. As usual with Spike Chunsoft games, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair is essentially a visual novel. I knew that fans who already played the japanese version were stating that this sequel was even better than the first episode - and after playing it myself I can easily understand why. I knew that fans who Since I played the first game, I've been eagerly awaiting for the localization of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.
